Home Office: Research Development Statistics: British Crime Survey - The RDS manage research and collect statistics in a number of areas including crime, policing, justice, immigration, drugs and race equality.This information helps the Home Office address the concerns of ordinary citizens. It also helps the police, prison and probation officers, the courts and immigration officials to do their jobs as effectively as possible.

Death Penalty:

Amnesty International's Death Penalty abolition page - Focuses on the death penalty in the United States.

Death Penalty Information Center (DPIC) - A history of the death penalty, reports on juveniles, mental illness, facts about death row and sentencing and a database of all executions since 1976.

Execution Tapes - from SoundPortraits.org - An hour-long public radio special hosted by Ray Suarez featuring excerpts of recordings made in Georgia's death house during state electrocutions. This broadcast is the first time a national audience is able to hear what takes place during a state-sponsored execution. This site requires RealAudio for listening to the tapes. In addition to the tapes, there is a wealth of material to read regarding capital punishment.

Deadly Lessons : School shooters tell why - Two-part report from the Chicago Sun Times examining the phenomenon of random school shootings and the psyches, motivations and profiles of the shooters. Based on research from the Secret Service's National Threat Assessment Center.

StopViolence - Covers a variety of topics including school violence.

Youth Violence : a report of the Surgeon General (US) - 'Examines the factors that lead young people to gravitate toward violence, reviews the factors that protect youth from perpetrating violence and identifies effective research-based preventive strategies'.
