Committee of Concerned Journalists - Commentaries on the state of contemporary journalism, with a Citizens Corner (for the general puiblic) and an A-Z index that covers journalism topics.
Committee to Protect Journalists - A non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to the global defense of press freedom

PEW Research Center for the People and the Press - Advertised as "an independent opinion research group that studies attitudes towards the press, politics and public policy issues" e.g. the public's attitude towards military action in Iraq and views on genetic research. The Survey Reports go back to 1995.
Poynter Institute - "everything you need to be a better journalist" - A school for journalists, future journalists and teachers of journalists. The site maintains pages on ethics, diversity, writing, editing, photojournalism and graphic design.
STATS : Statistical Assessment Service - STATS serves as a resource for journalists by providing timely and well-researched analysis of current statistical and scientific disputes. STATS seeks to weed out bad data and research before it enters the media stream.
