Articles: The Library is happy to acquire articles from the British Library's holdings for you, at no cost to yourself. You must, however, have checked Richmond Library's own full-text resources before submitting your request. Information on inter-library loans.

Books: The Library will occasionally acquire books for you from the British Library's holdings, but all book requests must have authorisation from one of the subject librarians, and you may be expected to meet with the Librarian to discuss the resources you have already looked at and/or be offered alternatives.

Visits: The British Library is a Library of last resort, that is to say, you are expected to have done a substantial amount of research in your own and other libraries before you think about a visit to the British Library. You must obtain authorisation to visit from one of the subject librarians. This permission cannot be given lightly. It will be determined by the topic you are researching, the level and depth of research that is required, and will be based upon evidence of significant prior research.
