During semester the libraries subscribe to the following papers:

Papers normally circulate between campuses: daily papers after a day, weekly papers after three days.

One month's worth of back issues is kept for each paper. Please ask at the issue desk if you wish to see a back issue.

Newspaper Database

LexisNexis Business & News - This resource is provided via a RAIUL Library subscription. - The news coverage offered by LexisNexis is impressive with approximately 12,000 publications from national & local newspapers, press releases, transcripts of tv broadcasts, newswires, statistical bulletins, magazines and trade journals. The company option provides access to millions of financial reports and company profiles from around the world. Access: Username and password required : consult Library staff for details.

ABYZ News Link - Portal to newspapers and other newspapers organised geographically.

Guardian Unlimited World News Guide - The Guardian Unlimited's country-by-country directory of news and government websites.

Internet Public Library - International newspapers from the Internet Public Libray. You can browse by country, browse the list of individual newspaper titles, or search for a specific title.

Kidon Media-Link - Dutch independent, advertisement-financed site aiming to provide a comprehensive gateway to newspapers and other news sources, regardless of language. Kidon provides advanced search functionality (by region, by language, by keyword, etc.).

Library of Congress Newspapers - Links to US and international (see Non-US) newspapers available on the web. Provides detailed information on accessibility, extent of archives, and costs (if any). US newspapers are listed by state; non-US newspapers by general geographical regions.

NewsDirectory - Access to the websites of the world's daily newspapers.

NewsLink - NewsLink Associates is an academic and professional research and consulting firm studying electronic publishing and visual journalism. This site provides access to world newspapers and news sources, though its primary focus is the USA.

Newspaper Index - Collects newspapers from around the world with links to over 200 countries

NISS world news - Go to the Worldwide News section for news resources for Europe, the USA, and the rest of the world, including the UN News Centre and the UN Wire.

The Paperboy.com - Access to world newspapers by country or by language. Alternatively, you can search for a specific newspaper title. Includes a section on major US newspapers.

World Press .org - Collects newspapers and magazines from 177 countries

World Wide News Online - Access to newspapers from around the world hosted by start4all.com. Select a country from the pull-down menu on the right-hand side of the screen.

Individual newspapers:

This section will provide quick links to individual international newspapers. It is only in a formative stage at present. If you would like to see a major international newspaper listed in this section, perhaps one you read daily, then let the Librarian know.

New York Times - The New York Times has only recently decided to make its entire online content free of charge. You can search the archive in two sections: since 1981 (all this content is free), and 1851-1980 (but only the articles up to 1922 are free. Articles between 1923 and 1980 still need to be paid for).

Alternatively you could use Lexis-Nexis to seach for US newspaper articles.

USA Today - Use the archive to search the newspaper from April 1987 onwards. Not all the content is free, but each article carries a symbol indicating whether the content is free or chargeable.

Wall Street Journal Online - The Wall Street Journal appears in several editions e.g. EBSCOhost indexes the Eastern edition. The Library subscribes to the European ediiton. The Library subscription includes access to the online version of the newspaper.

WashingtonPost - Use the archive to search the newspaper from 1977 onwards. Only articles within the last two weeks are available for free. Others need to be purchased.
