Renewals
If you wish to extend the loan period of items you have on loan you may do so in one of two ways:
Self-renewal
You can access the OPAC and renew items yourself. Using this method you do not have to have the items physically with you and you do not even have to be in the Library. You can access the OPAC from all networked computers on campus, and you can access the OPAC from outside the University at: http://voyager.richmond.ac.uk.
There is a link on the very first page of the catalogue saying "Patron information", or you can access the same section using the Patron button within the OPAC itself.
You will then be prompted to enter your barcode and your surname:
- Barcode: your barcode is the 10 digit number at the bottom of your University ID card.
- Last Name: please enter your surname or family name.
- Click on the Log-in button.
- Within your patron information you need to go to your charged items (the items on loan to you).
- On the left-hand side there should be a column labelled Renew?
- Next to each item you should see a small check-box. You can either select individual items to renew, or select all items.
- Once you have selected your items to renew click the Renew items button.
- If the items have renewed successfully the new due date will appear in the status column.
- If the renewal is unsuccessful it may be because the item has been requested by another user.
- Therefore, please ensure you check the new due dates before logging off.
- Once you have finished with your renewals please ensure that you log-off the system.
Library counter
Although you are encouraged to use self-renewal whenever possible, you can bring your items to the Library issue-counter and ask library staff to renew them for you. Library staff can do this for you, but only when the items are physically present.
Library staff will not renew items at the issue-counter simply upon production of your ID card unless you are experiencing difficulties with self-renewal.
