Welcome From The President

Richmond is fortunate to have the expertise and dedication of an internationally minded faculty who also have extensive experience of both US and UK university systems.

Our culturally diverse faculty bring their international training and experience into the classroom. In combination with the international outlook and intercultural backgrounds of our students, this means that the Richmond classroom is a dynamic space for fruitful debate.

Many of our faculty are engaged in research which has a particular emphasis on globalization and international and intercultural issues. This ranges from research projects on global security to globalization and popular culture and to projects which focus on intercultural communication and research into multicultural pedagogy. Some of these projects derive directly from the experience of teaching at Richmond and many of our key courses are strongly international, intercultural and interdisciplinary in nature.

In June 2006, following the report of the Visiting Evaluation Team submission of the report from which the excerpts below were taken, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaccredited Richmond, without further requirement, for the maximum ten-year renewal period to 2016,thereby sustaining Richmond’s status as England’s only Middle States accredited American university.

“The faculty has clearly embraced Richmond’s special mission of international and multicultural education, one visible throughout the academic programs in each discipline. The multicultural student population is likewise reflected in a diverse faculty.”

“Richmond faculty are fully involved in the development and delivery of curricula and academic programs and are intensely committed to the institution’s international mission of global leadership in an interdependent world.”

MA Art History 2009-2010, MA Graduate Assistant

I have greatly enjoyed my time at Richmond thus far. The Kensington campus is ideally located in the heart of London within reach of some of the world’s finest museums and art galleries, as well as one-of-a-kind cultural experiences and opportunities for fun and entertainment and we have gone on multiple field trips and museum visits. The Richmond MA in Art History is an extremely enriching experience that teaches students how to think critically, and prepares them for relevant work in diverse fields, in addition to art history, all in one year! It’s an experience that’s really quite hard to beat.
