I recently returned from a visit to Richmond, the American International University in London. At this dual-accredited (US and UK) university, I conversed with bright, friendly and inquisitive students from every corner of the globe. As I toured the campus and facilities of Richmond I was enthralled by both the personal commitment of its faculty and by the quality of the programs. In short, I discovered one of the most unique options for a university experience that I had ever encountered.
The classrooms at Richmond have no walls. The incredibly diverse student body and the intimate relationships developed in this community of motivated young people richly enhance formal learning to a level seldom experienced in the States. Additionally, the wonders of London and the expanse of the European continent present themselves as incredible resources to furthering personal growth and learning.
A former advisee of mine graduated from Richmond several years ago and is now in the prime of his career. He expounded to me upon the richness of the experience and depth of learning he encountered while an undergraduate in one of the world's most magnificent and diverse cities. He has since been employed with US and French companies and is now working for a German financial broker. His Richmond friendships have remained significant and extend to four continents.
There is something very special about this educational environment. Richmond can make a huge difference in your life if you are willing to take the risk and explore, to open yourself to a challenge and embrace the possibilities of a global education.
I enthusiastically advocate to all my students and parents the merit of an education at Richmond, the American International University in London!

Katherine, a Communications major, began her education at Richmond, transferred to a well-respected university in the United States, and then returned to finish her undergraduate studies at Richmond. She graduated in 2003.
It has been said that you do not appreciate something until you are away from it. I always appreciated Richmond, but did not appreciate it for all that it is. After only a couple of weeks at my new university, I was desperately ready to return to Richmond.
First and most importantly, the professors at Richmond are unmatched. The diverse backgrounds and sensitivities of the professors separate them from so many of their counterparts teaching at universities in the US. They have tremendous knowledge of the subjects they teach and the nuances of life, people and our surrounding world affairs. Because of this, their classes are more multi-faceted, rich, self-expanding and thrilling.
I realize now that, in a very short time, Richmond had molded me into a world citizen. I experienced other cultures, religions, languages and customs. I was exposed to new music, new traditions, new foods, new outlooks and new ideals that I would not have known if I had been anywhere else. It is phenomenal that a place such as Richmond exists and is able to create such a remarkable and life-altering atmosphere.
I thank Richmond for what it has done for me and know that it is the right place for me.

P.S. The view on the walk from Richmond Station to campus sticks in my head like a painting. (It's my favorite view in London!) Now, the grand estate with its sprawling cow pasture, bordered by the winding Thames spotted with boats and the most glorious skies overhead is a reality again! I can't imagine a place like Richmond existing anywhere else. It is just too unique and too enriching for another place to compare.
