Open University Registration
Richmond's undergraduate degree programs are validated by the Open University Validation Services (OUVS). Validation by OUVS means that Richmond's degrees are of comparable standard to the Bachelors Degree with Honours (denoted BA (Hons) and BSc (Hons)) awarded to students directly registered with the Open University and other UK universities. British honours degrees are classified as first class (1st), upper second class (2.1), lower second class (2.2), or third class (3rd). The classifications of the degrees awarded to Richmond graduates are determined by the Richmond faculty members with the concurrence of the external examiners.
All Richmond degree students who have completed 45 credits and have a GPA of at least 2.0 are automatically registered for the OU validated degree. Students who transfer 45 credits or more towards their Richmond degree will be OU registered after they have completed one semester at Richmond , provided their GPA is at least 2.0.
The OU Student Handbook provides more information for students on services and the qualification provided by The Open University.
