Richmond Foundation

Richmond students gather at the historic Hill Campus

A charity registered with the Charities Commission in the United Kingdom. The Foundation is independent of the University, although its trustees are also trustees of the University. The aims of the Foundation are to support Higher Education.

The Foundation generates surpluses from:

  • providing trading activity to the University including, coffee shops, student stores (in conjunction with the Student Government Association) and the Fitness Centre.
  • donations from U.K. tax-payers.

As the University is a U.S. registered, not-for-profit corporation, the Foundation allows U.K. taxpayers to donate to the University in a tax efficient manner. For every £1 donated by a U.K. taxpayer, the University can reclaim an additional 18p from the U.K. Government. If the donor is a higher rate U.K. taxpayer, they can also claim 22p for every £1 donated. For further details please contact the Finance department (tel. 020 8332 8255) or Alumni office (tel. 020 7368 8468).
