• Anthony Lonsdale appointed first Principal

1972

• September, first intake of 100 students at Richmond College's
  Queens Road campus;
• Audra Longley appointed Dean of Students

1975

• First AA graduates

1976

• Vernon Mealor appointed Principal

1977

• Dr. Robert E. Kuehn appointed Academic Dean
• BA degree programs begin in English literature and Business

1978

• Upper Division opens in Kensington
• British Studies program begins

1979

• Enrolment peaks at 490 students on both campuses

1980

• Dr. William J. Petrek begins as President;
• First BA graduating class

1981

• Accreditation granted by the Middle States Association;
• Ambassador House opens for upper division residents

1982

• International Field Study Program begins

1984

• Pacific House opens as the main upper division academic building;

• BA degree in Computer Science begins

1986

• Enrolment exceeds 1000 students;
• Audra Longley, Dean of Students retires

1988

• Orchard House opens at the Hill campus as President's residence at the Hill campus

1990

• John O'Connell appointed Vice President of Student Services;
• Michael Smith appointed Director, MBA program;

• Thackeray House opens as MBA building;
• MBA program begins with 28 students

1991

• Dr. William Petrek retires as President ;
• Dr. Richard Resch begins as Provost and Senior Vice President for
  Academic Affairs

1992

• Walter McCann begins as President
• Privy council approves change of name from Richmond College to
  Richmond, The American International University in London

1993

• Enrolment peaks at 1200 students

1994

• Dr. Jocelyn Hackforth-Jones appointed MA Program Director

1995

• Clive Bateson begins as Dean of School of Business

1996

• Re-accreditation of degree program by Middle States Association

1997

• Open University validation of the University and degree programs;
• 15 Young Street opens for classes;
• MA in Art History begins with 11 students;
• School of Arts and Sciences created,
  Dr. Jane Friederichs appointed Dean;
• Dr. Jean Lefebvre begins as Dean of School of Business

2000

• Robert Leppard appointed Director of MBA Program;
• The Cyril Taylor library opens on the Hill campus

2001

• Dr. Teresa Domzal begins as Dean of School of Business;
• Dr. Jocelyn Hackforth-Jones appointed Dean of School of Arts and Sciences

2002

• Richmond's 30th year; September, Dr. Norman Smith begins as fifth President

• Mark Kopenski recruited to be Richmond's first Vice President of Enrolment Management

• 23 Queens Road purchased and opened as hall of residence for Richmond Hill students.

• Open University Institutional Re-accreditation awarded for 5 years
