Undergraduate Scholarships

About our Scholarships Programme

Scholarships, bursaries and grants are awarded to undergraduate students based on a range of factors including current and future academic achievement and need. Students are required to complete an application to be considered for a university scholarship or bursary. Information about how to apply for one of our scholarships, bursaries or grants will be sent to you with your offer.

Prospective students may apply as soon as they have received the offer of a place. Scholarships, bursaries and grants are normally awarded for the duration of the programme, subject to maintaining the required academic standard and contributing to University life.

Which scholarships am I eligible for?

Home/EU Students

If you are an EU citizen and have been ordinarily resident in the EEA for the previous three years then you are entitled to apply for Home/EU Scholarships & pay Home/EU fees.

International Students

If you are a citizen of a non-EU country or are an EU citizen but have been ordinarily resident outside the EEA for the previous three years then you are entitled to apply for International Scholarships & pay International fees.

North American Students

If you are a resident in the USA, or in a country from Panama north to Canada (including the Caribbean), then you are entitled to pay USD $ fees, and apply for North American Scholarships as listed below.

Alumni

If you are a alumni or related to an alumni of the University then you are eligible for our Alumni Scholarships, you will however pay tuition based on your domicile as above.

Home/EU Scholarships

Scholarships for Home/EU Students (Financial Need Based and Academic Merit Based)

If you are eligible, Richmond offers Scholarships that can be combined with Student Finance England loans, or other sources of personal funding, to pay your remaining tuition balance or balance due for on-campus accommodation and your meal plan.

Chancellor’s  Scholarship

Who may be eligible? Students who are new entrants to the University, paying the full Richmond Home/EU fees. To qualify students must achieve 136 (AAB) UCAS Tariff Points or 3.6 US CGPA or international equivalent (A Grade Average). Applications will be considered on a predicted grades, subject to verification of final results meeting the aforementioned criteria.  Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the information supplied in your Needs and Merit Based Funding Application.

About the Scholarship: The Chancellor’s Sir Cyril Taylor Scholarship is a needs based one. Funds for the Chancellors Scholarships are donated by Richmond’s Founder Sir Cyril Taylor. For continuation of the Chancellor’s Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.4 from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Chancellors Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University. (*calculated according to the University’s methodology)


The Vice Chancellor’s Scholarships

Who may be eligible?  To qualify students must achieve 126 (ABB) UCAS Tariff Points, US CGPA of 3.3 or international equivalent (B Grade Average).  Applications will be considered on a predicted grades, subject to verification of final results meeting the aforementioned criteria.  Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the information supplied in your Needs and Merit Based Funding Application.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship: is merit based. The Vice-Chancellor Scholarships is donated by the University’s President. Continuation of the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 – 3.50 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Vice-Chancellors Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University.  (*calculated according to the University’s methodology)


The Provost’s Scholarships

Who may be eligible? Students who are new entrants to the University, paying the full Richmond Home/EU fees. To qualify students must achieve 120 (BBB) UCAS Tariff Points or a US CGPA of 3.0 or international equivalent (B Grade Average). Applications will be considered on a predicted grades, subject to verification of final results meeting the aforementioned criteria.  Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the information supplied in your Needs and Merit Based Funding Application.

The Provost’s Scholarship: is merit based. Continuation of the Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 – 3.59 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. Philippe Setton Undergduate Scholarships

Who may be eligible? Philippe Setton Tuition Scholarships are available for students that achieve between 136-120 UCAS Tariff Points in their A Levels. (AAB -BBB) Grades

Philippe Setton Undergraduate Scholarship: is an academic merit based one. To qualify students must be able to show either a predicted grade  of between 136 and 120 UCAS Tariff A-Level Points. Continuation of the Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University. (*calculated according to the University’s methodology)


Leadership and Armed Forces Scholarships

Who may be eligible? To qualify students must achieve at least 88 (CCD) UCAS Tariff Points or US CGPA of 2.5 International equivalent (C Grade Average). Applications will be considered on a predicted grades, subject to verification of final results meeting the aforementioned criteria.  Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the information supplied in your Needs and Merit Based Funding Application.

The Dean’s Scholarship: is merit based. To qualify students must be able to show either a predicted grade or final High School Certificate of 3.00 GPA. Continuation of the Dean’s Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Dean’s Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University. (*calculated according to the University’s methodology)

International Scholarships

Chancellors  Scholarship

Who may be eligible? Students who are new entrants to the University, paying the full Richmond International tuition fee. To qualify students must achieve a final cumulative High School Certificate GPA of 3.6 – 4.0. However, applications will be considered on a predicted GPA, subject to verification of final results meeting the aforementioned criteria.  Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the information supplied in your NEEDS and MERIT Based Funding Application.

About the Scholarship: The Chancellor’s Scholarship  is merit based. To qualify students must be able to show either a predicted grade or final High School Certificate/Diploma of 3.6 – 4.0 GPA. Continuation of the Presidential Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative GPA of at least 3.4 from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Chancellors Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University.

Continuation of the Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 – 3.50 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University.

The Deans’s Scholarships

Who may be eligible? Students who are new entrants to the University, paying the full Richmond International tuition fee. To qualify, students must achieve a final cumulative High School Certificate of GPA 2.75 – 3.00. However, applications will be considered on predicted GPA, subject to verification of final results meeting the aforementioned criteria. Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the information supplied in your NEEDS and MERIT Based Funding Application. 

The Deans’s Scholarship is merit based. To qualify students must be able to show either a predicted grade or final High School Certificate of 2.75 – 3.00 GPA. Continuation of the Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 – 3.59 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University.

US Scholarships

Scholarships & Grants available for US $ fee payers

Richmond US $ scholarship awards are usually available only to full-time, degree-seeking students at Richmond. These are needs and merit based and can be combined with your Direct Loans and other sources of personal funding.

In order to be considered for one of Richmond’s US$ Scholarships, please complete both of the following:

  1. The  New Student Scholarship & Financial Aid Application
    and
  2. Direct Loan Application, which should be sent by email, once complete, to usadmissions@richmond.ac.uk

Please note that all GPA’s quoted below are based on a 4.0 scale

The Deans’s Scholarship is merit based. To qualify students must be able to show either a predicted grade or final High School Certificate of 2.75 – 3.00 GPA. Continuation of the Scholarship after the first year is conditional on the student achieving a cumulative 3.0 – 3.59 GPA from the previous academic year, remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life. The Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial support or scholarship from the University.

Alumni Scholarships

The Alumni Bursary

Open to all eligible students regarless of fee structure.

Home/EU fee payers – Bursary of £1,000 per academic year towards tuition

International fee payers – Bursary of £2,000 per academic year towards tuition

US $ fee payers – Bursary of $3,000 per academic year towards tuition

Those who are eligible to apply are:

  • Alumnus/alumna who return to the University to complete a Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate students who are the partners, dependents or siblings of a Richmond alumnus/alumna

Where an alumnus/alumna is defined as a former student of the University who successfully completed their programme of study as intended (BA, Postgraduate or visiting/study abroad).

Once awarded, continuation of the Scholarship into the second and subsequent semesters of study will be dependent on the Scholar:

  1. progressing normally on the programme, maintaining a cumulative GPA of not less than 2.5 (Undergraduate) or 3.0 (Postgraduate); and
  2. remaining in good standing and making a positive contribution to University life.

The fee waiver is cancelled in total if the student does not remain actively enrolled throughout the normal duration of the programme. Normally, the Richmond Alumni Scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other form of financial or scholarship support from the University.
